I was very lucky that just as I was making some of my Second World War projects for radio, domestic/semi-pro video was becoming affordable.

So I often ran a locked off S-VHS video or Hi-8 while recording digital broadcast-quality sound.

Later on I started paying for a professional Betacam SP cameraman to accompany me. These remarkable archives are now available to programme makers. If what is here is of interest, please get in touch.
