Talks, Lectures & Commentary

When I get going, you can't shut me up. For a considerable length. For too long, really. Like this sub-heading.

Big Event and Airshow Commentary

I've done all the big shows as producer - Royal International Air Tattoo, Sanicole, Duxford - and the boutique ones like Fly to the Past and the huge honour that is working for the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust's day down at Capel le Ferne. I've produced a 160 ship Trafalgar event in the Solent, a 300-plus horse Battle of Hastings re-enactment, and a Normandy tank skirmish, the last two both for English Heritage. I've also done the commentary myself at the RAF Cosford Airshow. Just recently it's been back to the dobbins with the Festival of the Horse at Belvoir Castle and Marlborough 300 at Blenheim Palace. Big live events: I love them.

Lectures

Me in full TED talk mode at the Royal Institution delivering a talk about TOMMIES as a Big Idea for a Next Radio conference.I was quite psyched because this is the venue for those funky Christmas Lectures that were part of my childhood. The full lecture can be found on the FILMS page

Moderator at Festivals

I've been invited back to moderate panels at the London Screenwriters Festival for about five years now.
Talks for Specialists

I've dared to speak at the Western Front Association, and you don't get more specialist than that. BTW, I think this is one of the few WW1 photographs that catches a shell exploding in the middle, as it were, of daily routine. Just like so many millions of them must have done.
Promo Talks

I do talks on WW1 at bookshops

Talks at schools

This is actually a pic of a production of JOURNEY'S END at a girls' school who used my original sound FX, but I'm using it to say I do schools talks on WW1 and on the writing process.
